Terms of service
The agreement between you and me when you buy Stream AB. Kept in plain English, because terms nobody can read protect nobody.

Who you are dealing with
Stream AB is sold by Conor Quinlan, a sole trader in the United Kingdom, trading as Stream AB. In these terms, “I” and “me” mean that person, and “you” means the person buying or using the plugin.

Buying or installing Stream AB means accepting these terms - including the free version, which is covered by them just as the paid one is. If you do not accept them, do not install it.
What you are buying
You are buying a licence to use Stream AB, not the software itself. I keep ownership of the plugin and everything in it.
The licence is perpetual for the version you bought - there is no subscription, and it does not expire. It covers two machines at a time, and you can move it between computers by deactivating one to free the slot.
The free version
Stream AB is also available as a free download. It is the same installer, with the paid features locked: A/B switching, play and pause, and gain matching are available without a licence key, and Spotify search, the track display, scrubbing, skipping and looping are not.
Downloading it asks for an email address. That is so I know who is running the free version and can reach you if something is wrong with the build you installed. The form also has a box, ticked by default, about being emailed occasionally when there is a new version or an offer - untick it and the download is exactly the same. What happens to the address is set out in the privacy policy.
You may use it for as long as you like, on as many of your own machines as you like, including for commercial work - there is no time limit and no account. The restrictions in the next section apply to it in full, and you may not redistribute it: send people to matchbox-plugins.com/stream-ab rather than passing the installer around.
Because it is free, it is provided as it is, with no promise of updates and no support commitment. Nothing here affects rights you have under consumer law when you do buy something.
A free download can be withdrawn or changed at any time. That would not affect a copy you have already installed, or any licence you have bought.
What the licence allows
You may:
- Use Stream AB on up to two computers you own or control, including for commercial work. Music you make using it is entirely yours and I claim nothing in it.
- Move the licence between machines as often as you like.
- Make a backup copy of the installer.
You may not:
- Share, sell, sub-licence, rent or give away your licence key, or publish it anywhere.
- Install it for other people so they can use it on their own machines.
- Attempt to defeat, remove or work around the licensing, or distribute anything intended to help others do so.
- Copy, decompile or reverse engineer the plugin, except where the law expressly gives you that right regardless of what these terms say.
Licence keys are personal to you. If a key is shared publicly I may revoke it, which stops it working on every machine.
Price, payment and delivery
Prices are shown on the site in US dollars and include any tax where applicable. Your bank may apply its own conversion or fees, which are outside my control.
Payment is handled by Stripe. I never see or hold your card details. Prices may change from time to time - the price you pay is the one shown at checkout.
Delivery is immediate. Your licence key appears on screen as soon as payment completes and is emailed to you as well. If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder and then email me - I can resend it.
Cancellation and refunds
Normally, buying online gives you 14 days to change your mind. That right does not apply to digital content that is delivered immediately, where you have agreed to that immediate delivery and acknowledged that you therefore lose the right to cancel.
By completing your purchase, you ask for your licence key to be supplied straight away, and you accept that you will not have a right to cancel once it has been. This is what allows the key to be handed over at checkout rather than after a waiting period.
That does not leave you without protection. Your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected. Stream AB has to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described on this site. If it is not, you are entitled to a repair or replacement, and to some or all of your money back if that cannot be done within a reasonable time.
In practice: if the plugin is faulty and I cannot fix it, you get a full refund. Email me, tell me your operating system and DAW, and I will try to solve it first - most problems are a permission prompt or an install step. If I cannot, I will refund you and deactivate the licence.
Please do check the compatibility information before buying. A DAW or operating system that is listed as unsupported is not a fault.
What Stream AB needs in order to work
Stream AB controls music apps you already have and plays music you already have access to. It does not supply any music, and it does not include a subscription to anything.
Searching from inside the plugin uses Spotify’s API. Stream AB is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Spotify. Spotify is a trademark of Spotify AB. Your use of Spotify remains subject to their own terms, and you need the Spotify desktop app installed for search to start a track.
Because that feature depends on a service I do not control, I cannot guarantee it indefinitely. If Spotify changes or withdraws access, the search feature may change or stop working. Everything that runs locally - A/B switching, the transport controls, gain matching - is unaffected by that.
Operating system changes
This is disclosed before purchase rather than after, and it is worth reading.
Showing you what is playing - the title, artwork and scrub bar - relies on the operating system letting applications read now-playing information. Apple restricted this in macOS 15.4 and could restrict it further. Stream AB works around it today, but I cannot promise that workaround survives a future macOS update.
If that happens, the plugin keeps working: you would lose the track display for some sources, not the A/B switching. I will do what I reasonably can to restore it, but I cannot commit to a fix for something Apple controls, and a platform change of that kind is not a fault in the plugin.
Updates and support
Support is by email at support@stream-ab.com, from me personally. I aim to reply within a few working days.
Bug-fix and maintenance updates to the version you bought are free. I have no obligation to provide new features indefinitely, and I may charge for a future major version - if I ever do, that will be made clear rather than sprung on you.
The installers are not code-signed, so your operating system will warn you that the developer is unidentified. That is expected and the install guide explains it. It is not a fault.
Limits on my responsibility
Nothing in these terms limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer always come first, whatever this section says.
Beyond that: Stream AB is a tool for comparing your mix against a reference. I am responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of my breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. I am not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses - lost profits, lost work, lost opportunity - since this is sold for personal and professional use rather than with any guarantee of business outcomes.
Where liability can lawfully be capped, it is capped at the amount you paid for the licence.
Please keep backups of your projects. That is ordinary good practice with any audio software, mine included.
Ending the licence
You can stop using Stream AB at any time by deactivating and uninstalling it.
I may revoke a licence if it is shared publicly, if the licensing is deliberately circumvented, or if a payment is reversed or charged back after the key has been issued. Where the situation allows it, I will contact you before revoking rather than after.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change for future purchases, and the date at the top will change with them. The terms that apply to your purchase are the ones published when you bought - a later change does not alter the deal you already made.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings there.
If something has gone wrong, email me first. Nearly everything is fixable that way.
How your personal information is handled is covered separately in the privacy policy.
